What better way to keep warm than to knit up a new blanket? Knit or crochet one for a new baby in the family, someone soon to be a high school graduate who will be going to college in the fall, a homeless person on the street. If 2019 is bringing a new baby to your family, a "handmade with love" blanket can't be matched! I'm looking forward to being a great aunt with the birth of my nephew's first baby, so I'm searching for just the right pattern for a special baby blanket.
In my last post of 2018, I encouraged all of you to do some selfish stitching after the holidays. Then I started this post by encouraging you to knit for others. I'm sorry to send mixed messages. It probably is time for you to do some selfish knitting? January is a great time to knit/crochet a blanket for yourself, too. Not only will it be warm and comfy when it's finished...it will keep the maker warm as it grows on the needles.
So....I'm going to do some selfish knitting. I've been wanting a new Fisherman Knit Afghan for myself for years. I made this blanket for myself in the 1970's:
It has been with my family and me for a long time and has warmed us on many cold nights. But it's falling apart! So, I'm going to use the next couple months to knit up a new blanket just for me! Selfish, some may say, but aren't we stitchers really the ones who appreciate the work? I'm so excited...a blanket for myself!
Will 2019 be the year you will make a new snuggle blanket, treating yourself or someone special? As you know, no one ever said it's sinful to knit/crochet for yourself! Visit us at The Stitchin' Den, and we will help you choose the perfect pattern and yarn for your new blanket. Then, go home, put your feet up, and create a special blanket....and keep warm while you stitch!
