This great beginner class will help you learn to use a pattern that takes the directional out of the box and into the frame.  This class will take you through the steps of cutting fabric correctly.  This is a great opportunity to use the Stripology ruler.

Class size: 3-6

    Time:  9 am - 3:30 pm  Instruction from 9-11 am with independent sewing time from 11 am -1:30 pm  (students are encouraged to continue to sew and to bring a sack lunch to enjoy during this time).  Instruction resumes at 1:30 pm and concludes at 3:30 pm.

    Prerequisite skills: This class is designed for advanced beginners.  In order for you to feel comfortable in this class, you should feel comfortable with your sewing machine.

    Materials Needed:  

    • Pattern "Boxed and Framed" (available at The Stitchin' Den)
    • 16 fat quarters
    • 1 yard for frame (non directional)
    • 1/3 yard for sashing (non directional).  You may use the extra fabric for the backing and binding.
    • 6 1/2" x 18" rule (Min. size) or Stripology Square Ruler
    • 50 weight thread (Aurifil recommended)
    • Sewing machine in good sewing condition (first 4 students that sign up may reserve one of the machines at the shop)
    • Sewing essentials, scissors, seam ripper, etc.

    Students will learn how to custom design a quilt featuring a panel, and will learn to use a diagonal pattern and directional fabric.
