Class Description: “Building Blocks” is a series of 12 fun patterns that will build your knitting skills. Starting with simple knit and purl stitches, your confidence will grow as you progress through several major knitting principles. Each block focuses on new stitches and techniques in a sequential fashion that “builds” upon the previously learned skill.
At the end of the series, the knitter is rewarded with an abundance of knitting know-how and 12 beautiful squares to assemble into a sampler afghan, baby blanket, pillows or anything limited only by your imagination
Prerequisite skills: In order for you to feel comfortable in this class, students should know how to cast on, knit, purl, cast off. Great class for beginners or for anyone who wants to increase their skill level.
We are looking forward to having you join our class. Please arrange to arrive at least five minutes before the class is scheduled to begin. You may want to arrive earlier so that we can help you select materials or to browse through the shop (we always have something new to share). We make an effort to stock the supplies that you need, so if you do not have all of the materials listed for the class, don’t worry, we can help.
Materials Needed: Building Blocks Book, Yarn, Needles, Markers, Cable Needle, Blunt End Needle for Seaming
Yarn Recommended: Cascade 128, Encore Chunky, or any other chunky weight yarn. Worsted weight yarn will work as well but will make smaller squares than the shop model. I recommend solid colors, no heathers or variegated yarn.
Class Outcomes: Students will learn more than 12 different stitches, blocking, seaming
Please arrange to arrive at least five minutes before the class is scheduled to begin. You may want to arrive earlier so that we can help you select materials or to browse through the shop (we always have something new to share).
If you would like to make any of the projects above, but cannot attend the classes, you may purchase the yarn and patterns separately. Come into the shop, or give us a call at 970-577-8210 for more information.
