As the sun rose in the bright Colorado blue sky, the heat saw us shedding the layers we had worried would not be enough when we set out this morning.
We laughed to remember the last time we were here. It was the middle of March and someone had built a couple of snowmen on the lake, near the end of the hike. We could see them from the far side, but didn't realize until we were right up close to them that someone had adorned them with hand knitted scarves. A couple who were visiting from the Netherlands hung some nametags from the tassels.
I was reminded of a pattern I had seen for luggage tags knitted from Trekking yarn, to make your suitcases more personalized and easy to identify.
Meeting people from all over the world on these hikes in the national Park really whets my whistle for international travel. I may have to whip up a couple of tags for my next trip.
