Beginning Quilting-Table Runner Class

Number of Sessions: 3 (2 hours each)
Dates: Wednesdays, September 16, 23, & 30
Time: 2 - 4pm
Class Size: 2-4 (2 person minimum in order to hold the class.)
Class Description: Class will use The Stitchin’ Den’s 2020 Table Runner pattern. A fun pattern to learn or renew your quilting skills. Pattern uses a favorite fabric for the center of the runner. Cutting pieces, basic piecing, walking foot quilting and binding will be covered. 2020 table Runner top kits are available in three different fabric patterns. Sew Machines are available for class time, provided by The Stitchin’ Den.
Session 1 will cover cutting and piecing
Session 2 will cover walking foot quilting
Session 3 will cover binding
Prerequisite skills: In order for you to feel comfortable in the class, students should know basic sew machine skills.
Fabric Requirements (fabric must be purchased at The Stitchin' Den):
- ½ yard for center, (if you are fussy cutting you may need more)
- 1/8 yard for sashing
- ¼ yard for border
- 1/8 yard for square accents in border.
- The Stitchin’ Den’s 2020 Table Runner kit includes top fabrics mentioned above and Pattern.
- 1 ½ yards for backing and binding
Batting 20”x 48”
Aurifil 50 wt. thread (orange spool) piecing thread
Aurifil 40 wt. thread (green spool) quilting thread
Ruler 8 ½” or 24 ½” recommended. Other rulers will be discussed in class.
Students may want to bring a chair cushion to raise their height at the table. The Stitchin’ Den will provide machines, iron, and cutting mats.
Class Outcome: Students will have learned the basic quilting steps and knowledge to achieve a finished quilt. Debi will share tips for more accurate piecing, easy quilting finishes, and an accurate binding. Students will be able to claim they are a Confident Beginner Quilter.
