Rye Socks Class
Class Title: Rye Socks – soft and simple, snuggly socks
Cost: $60 (plus yarn for this project which must be purchased at The Stitchin Den)
Class Location: The Stitchin’ Den, Estes Park, CO and on online via Zoom.

Class Description: Learn to knit a simple structured sock in quick working worsted weight yarn. You will learn a stretchy, non-binding cast on, how to turn a heel, decrease for the toe and bind off in the elusive (but easy) Kitchener stitch. The pattern accommodates dpns, magic loop and “two circular needle” styles of sock knitting in the round. We will be learning to work in the round using two circular needles, but other techniques are also supported.
Prerequisite skills: In order for you to feel comfortable in this class, students should know how to cast on, knit and purl. Knitting 101-Knit in the Round would be a great prerequisite for this class.
Materials Needed: 2 balls of worsted weight yarn. Size US 3 fixed circular needles (2 sets), size US 5 fixed circular needles (2 sets) or equivalent dpns, Tapestry Needle, Scissors, Stitch Markers, Pattern available FREE on Ravelry: Rye Socks by Tin Can Knits
Recommended Yarn: Encore Worsted yarn (for machine washable and dryable socks):
Or Cascade 220 or 220 Superwash (for hand-washable wool socks)
Class Outcomes: Students will learn the basics of sock construction on a quick-to-knit worsted weight yarn. Students will learn how to adjust the provided pattern for any height or length sock from sizes including infant, toddler, child, small, med and large adult. Students will be able to choose an appropriate cast on to accommodate differing needs for a stretchy cuff. Prepare to fall in love with this pattern and fill those Christmas Stockings with hand knit socks!
